Wessex Water implements Digicore's C-track vehicle tracking
Wessex Water selected the server-based C-track system because it possessed excellent open system architecture compared with other leading vehicle tracking products. Because of the added functionality of C-track and its ability to integrate with other third-party reporting and management systems, the solution will enable the company to tackle existing and future tracking and fleet management needs. Stolen cargo recovered thanks to C-track
'The attackers headed for Liverpool, leaving the driver somewhere along the side of the road. We saw that the truck had deviated from its route almost immediately and our British customer contacted the local police.' All Gentrans trucks are equipped with the concealed C-track vehicle tracking system. Every 5 minutes the system automatically sends, amongst other information, the location of the truck to the office. This enabled them to follow the vehicles route precisely. 'We also saw where the cargo was unloaded', adds Bindels. Gentrans gave the GPS coordinates that C-track records to the British police, enabling them to find not only the truck and trailer, but also most of the cargo. Bindels said, 'The police arrested the attackers and, because bits of the cargo still keep turning up, the receivers are also being arrested.' Using the same technology, HeuvelTrans from Tiel in the Netherlands also recovered one of its trucks in Ede in February this year, and another gang of truck thieves were rounded up. Another Mega Deal for C-track
The first 1200 C-track systems have already been installed in service vehicles which are being deployed as part of a project aiming to reduce response time to leakages in the pipe infrastructure. Though smaller than the huge debis order (19 000 systems), this is the largest European order in this industry to use GPRS (Vodafone) for the data transfer. Carl Leadbeater, Operations Manager at Thames Water said, 'We were previously able to follow individual vehicles on a map, but now we have a total overview of our capacity and volume. This is a huge step forwards'. One of the distinguishing features of C-track is the ability to reduce data to easily digestible pieces of information within the company's computer system by visualising it in an intelligent way. |

Stolen HeuvelTrans truck found thanks to C-track![]() A six-month old Scania HeuvelTrans truck and loaded trailer was stolen from the company premises in Tiel, the Netherlands, on Sunday afternoon. Luckily, the truck was equipped with a C-track system, enabling Johan van den Heuvel to see where the truck was parked to within a metre which, as it turned out, was in a hangar in Ede. More stolen trucks were discovered next to the HeuvelTrans truck in the same building. The police have released no further information regarding the gang. Next to the HeuvelTrans truck, a truck and trailer was found with all the number plates removed and painted so as to be made unrecognisable. (source: www.agf.nl) |
